I was Born in Galveston TX raised in Texas City, TX. My parents are Deborah Simpson a retired social worker (Supervisor for the Dept of Human Services) and special needs teacher and Robert Simpson Sr. a retired machinist from BP oil. My twin sister and I are the youngest of 4 kids. I have 2 older brothers, Robert Jr. and Marlon Simpson. Both college graduates that went into computer programing and computer network. Robert Jr. our oldest brother was a football star and very likeable guy in our hometown of Texas City, which made our family well known and liked there. After years of working my brother Robert Simpson (Rob) became the first entrepreneur in our family, owning and operating a distribution business for years. Soon after, I my other brother Marlon followed and owning a Fish Market (Marlin’s Seafood in ATL), myself, and my sister. Rob currently works with my sister part-time at Accuhealth and owns and runs his process server business. Together my sister and I own Tru Essence Cosmetic and Medical Spa (2018) and Tru Destini (2018) a 501c3 aimed at helping minority high school and college students get into the medical field and exploring medical entrepreneurship through shadowing and mentorship.
My sister and I both aspired to be physicians and attended the University of North Texas (UNT) for our undergraduate degree. Our interest in helping the less fortunate came from watching my mom and going on home visits with her as she helped the elderly find services such as food, home health care, bill assistance and more. My direction shifted during my second year at UNT as I decided to major in Psychology. She later went to medical school at the University of Illinois as I attended pharmacy school at Texas Southern University.
